Anxiety in pregnancy: online psychological support
Being pregnant isn't always lived with calm. Here you have a space for what you feel.
Pregnancy is often imagined as a radiant stage, but for many women it also brings fear, anxiety, and a constant watchfulness that's hard to soothe.
You may live with the fear that something will go wrong, with intrusive thoughts that keep repeating, or with the difficulty of enjoying and connecting with your pregnancy the way you thought you "should". Sometimes the emotional changes are so intense that it's hard to recognise yourself.
Feeling this doesn't mean you don't love your baby or that you'll be a bad mother. It means you're going through an enormous transition and that you deserve a space to talk about it without judgement.
I can help you if you're going through:
- Anxiety and fear that something will go wrong
- High-risk pregnancy
- Difficulty enjoying or connecting with the pregnancy
- Intrusive thoughts or mental loops
- Fear of birth
How I support you during pregnancy
We work on the anxiety and fears of pregnancy with concrete tools for the moments of greatest activation, and we make room for what worries you without minimising it. If your pregnancy is high-risk or requires bed rest, we also tend to that added uncertainty.
As birth approaches we can prepare for it emotionally: the fear of pain, of losing control, or of the unknown. The aim is for you to arrive with more resources and more confidence in yourself.
Signs that you may need support
It's common to feel some of this at some point in pregnancy; pay closer attention if it lasts over time or gets in the way of your day-to-day:
Emotionally
- Intense fear that something will happen to the baby
- Difficulty enjoying moments that should feel good
- Irritability or frequent crying without a clear cause
- Feeling permanently on alert
Physically and day to day
- Trouble sleeping because of repetitive thoughts
- Avoiding check-ups for fear of bad news
- Needing to constantly check the baby is okay
- Emotional exhaustion that rest doesn't fix
What we work on, session by session
Understanding your specific anxiety
Not all pregnancy anxiety is the same: we identify what triggers it — medical checks, birth, your own history — so we can work on that specifically.
Tools for peaks of activation
You learn concrete resources for the moments of greatest fear or intrusive thoughts, that you can use between sessions.
Emotional preparation for birth
As the date approaches, we also work on the fear of birth, of losing control, or of the unknown.
Many women start in the second trimester, though I also support you from a positive test through to the immediate postpartum if you need it.
Frequently asked questions about pregnancy
Is it normal to feel this anxious while pregnant?
Yes, it's more common than people talk about. Pregnancy brings hormonal, physical, and identity changes that can generate anxiety, and it doesn't mean something is wrong with you.
I have a high-risk pregnancy, can you help me?
Yes. We work on the added uncertainty, bed rest, or medical restrictions, always in coordination with what your medical team indicates.
Can therapy help with fear of giving birth?
Yes, it's one of the most common reasons people reach out in the third trimester. We work on the specific fear — of pain, of losing control, of a complication — with practical tools.
What if I have intrusive thoughts that scare me?
They're far more common than people think and almost never carry any real risk to the baby. Talking about them without judgement usually takes away much of their weight.
Can I start therapy in any trimester?
Yes, every stage of pregnancy brings its own emotional challenges, and you can start whenever you need to.
You don't have to live your pregnancy on permanent alert to deserve support.
